The feelings associated with hygge are – too often – privileges.
Racism plagues this country. Millions of BIPOC people are forced to navigate their daily lives questioning if their bodily safety is at risk, if speaking their minds will cost them their jobs (or their lives), and when they’ll have to steel themselves yet again to “but I’m not a racist!”
Course correcting 400+ years of racism and systemic injustice is the work of those of us with White Privilege. Creating a blog focused solely on Hygge would be inauthentic to much of what my mind is focused on: doing my part to fight racism, educating myself and others, and building a world that I can walk through and feel decent.
Posts tagged with “The Work” reflect conversations and topics that revolve around anti-racism work that must be elevated above our quest to curate a hyggeligt life.
